ACCESSIBILITY
The Mill Museum welcomes everyone to our programs and exhibits. Efforts are underway to enhance accessibility regarding our structural environment, as well as in terms of communication access and policy. We invite members of the public to join us in creating a museum experience that is increasingly open to all.
Accessible parking: Located in the lot at 411 Main Street. (Note: The spaces do not currently have striping and are located nearest to the sidewalk on a cross-slope.)
Accessible entrances: Main museum building, first floor (the accessible entrance is around the corner to the right of the primary entrance; please ring the doorbell to alert the staff). Main museum building, second floor (the accessible entrance is in the back of the building at 157 Union Street). Dugan building, first floor (the accessible entrance is at the parking lot at 411 Main Street). Dugan building, second floor (the accessible entrance is at 157-B Union Street). (Note: Because some these entrances are normally locked, we recommend that you contact the Museum at 860-456-2178 to arrange for staff assistance.)

Communication access: For basic Museum written material in alternative format, please email info@millmuseum.org or call 860-456-2178 during our opening hours. In regard to specific events, please submit all accommodation requests (including for sign language interpretation) to info@millmuseum.org at least five business days in advance of the program. Within the limits of its budget, the Museum will make every effort to fulfill requests whenever feasible.
Tactile exhibits: In an effort to make our exhibits accessible to everyone, the Mill Museum is sometimes able to provide some objects available for touch primarily for people who are blind or with low vision. Please contact the Museum in advance to find out if any current exhibits offer a tactile experience.
Voice-described tours: Please contact the museum by phone or email if you, for accessibility reasons, would like to arrange a personal voice-described tour of the Museum. Please allow us at least five business days to arrange for a tour guide. In addition, the Museum’s Factory Floor Exhibit Room includes audible exhibits in both English and Spanish accessible via QR codes. To find out more about the audible exhibits, click here. (The Museum’s audible exhibits are made possible through grants from Connecticut Humanities, the Willimantic Lions Club, the Rose and Leo Pageau Trust, and CRIS Access.)
